SONJA SOMONE — Protagonist
Early 20s. Political science student who shows up to a protest to observe, not join. She’s tired of being alone and afraid — but running from problems only makes things worse, and out here trust is a risk nobody can really afford.
Voice: Cautious. Hesitant at the edges of sentences. Quiet until her guard drops, then something sharper rises to meet it.
NOEL TORRES — Antagonist / Love Interest
De facto leader of The Ferment. The person a room reorganizes around.
Voice: Seductive baritone — the voice you follow before you’ve decided to move. Breaks under real emotion, which is part of why people believe him.
WHARTON “WHIP” LEWIS — Creative Force
Nonbinary artist from Boston. The most clear-eyed person in the room — and still not immune to Noel.
Voice: Gentle, relaxed. Can tease Noel and walk away unscathed.
LORNA MCHALE — Rival and Ally / Witness
Documentary journalist, Noel’s former girlfriend. Knows exactly who he is and comes back anyway.
Voice: Dry humor, slightly worn. Confident in a way that occasionally tips dismissive.
LINDSAY KAZAK — True Believer
Sonja’s childhood friend. Genuinely warm — something underneath may raise the hair on your arms.
Voice: Light, natural soprano. Smarter than she sounds, and that’s likely a strategy.
DR. LUCIAN BARNES — Mentor
Professor and attorney. Strict, no-nonsense, angry but compassionate.
Voice: Deep, controlled, powerful without needing to demonstrate it.
FELICITY VASQUEZ SOMONE — Sonja’s Mother
Runs Hair Apparent salon. The matriarch of this story — colorful, loving, ferociously present.
Voice: Deeply resonant. The voice that makes people’s shoulders drop and hearts unclench.
GEREMIAH PEARCE — Media Presence
Populist entrepreneur, host of The Harvest. Media presence only in early episodes.
Voice: Charming, relaxed. Knows exactly when to pause. Hasn’t stumbled yet.
